Beats Solo 4 Headphones Review: Best Features, Audio Quality, and More

Beats Solo is one of the best headphones in the field, and over the years it remains as that. We can see a lot of Beats Solo on most people’s heads. Now, they have released their new version, Beats Solo 4. This costs $200. The price is good, but before buying one, users have to check if it is worth the price. With this new version, they give more features than before. In this article, we are going to talk about them.

Design

The design is the same as the Beats Solo 3, but you can see some parts are changed. This was supplied in fiber-based packaging. It is 100% fiber and environment-friendly. The new model is available in three colors. They are Matte Black, Slate Blue, and Cloud Pink. There is a metal around the extender and the number 4 label. Designers used metal for the extendable section. When we talk about the headband, its underside is made with rubberized padding, and because of that, cleaning will be easy. The design was made suitable for different head sizes and ears. The ear cushions give you a comfortable feeling when you wear them, and they are rich in style. With the folding mechanism, you can adjust them as you wish, and the fabric case is enough in size to carry the headphones, USB-C, and 3.5mm audio cables.

It is lightweight, around 217 grams. With that, you can wear it all day without feeling uncomfortable. On the underside, you can see a 3.5mm jack and a USB-C port. There is a tiny LED light that lights when the power is on. A small button for the headphones. With the outer ring of the ear caps, users can control the volume.

You can use the central B as a button. You can do multiple functions with that. For answer calls, do double taps; for pause and play, do single taps. And for skip tracks, do three taps.

Audio Quality

They use the same base in the Solo 3 for the Solo 4. But since this came after so many years, there has been good progress in the audio quality. They use their ideal Beats custom-designed diaphragm transducer. With this, users can hear clean and good audio, and for that, they use 40mm transducers. As this is another product that is based on Apple, everyone expects a good experience when they use it. Same as they want this to give a more balanced and clear experience without any overwhelming feeling.

There is personalized spatial audio support. The microphones are also improved from analog ones to Digital MEMS mics. The best part is that they use machine learning algorithms when we make the new Beats Solo 4. They trained it over 7,000 hours in real-world environments and it helps to reject the background noise and focus on the user’s voice. With these upgrades, it works very well.

Features

Now, they use their own chip instead of Apple’s W1 chip. When we use iOS, we can connect it with the headset in one tap. Now, you can do the same with the new Beat Solo 4. Also, you can do an audio switch on both devices. When the iPhone is out of range then it automatically shifts to the Apple Watch.

When you want to keep track of your headphones, you can do it with My Device for Android and Find Me for Apple. With this, you can see the last connected location. But when we use the Beats with Android, you have to download the respective app for customization and updates. But iPhone users can do those things without any app. But unfortunately, they didn’t add the Active Noise Cancelling and the design also can’t fit too well with the ears. But for this price, you can get more features, so it doesn’t make much more sense.

Connectivity and Power

It uses Bluetooth 5.3 class 1 support and it also works as a solid connection. Also, you can use the wired connection if you need it. It has a 3.5mm and USB-C connection. When it connects to a source using a cable, it can play lossless audio.

You can get 50 hours of battery life from one charge. With the taking calls this can be 36 hours. This also uses fast fuel, which means a 10-minute charging can give 5 hours of battery life.

Final Words

With all these features, it is good to replace your Solo 3 with this new Solo 4, if you can. For this price, they offer good audio quality, Spatial Audio, and 50-hours battery life. They give you the same experience you can get from some high-price headphones. But the ANC is missing in here. If you want the ANC feature, you can buy Apple AirPods Max or Beats Studio Pro. But this adds an additional price of around 150$ or 200$. So, the lack of ANC doesn’t matter in here. After 7 years, the Beats Solo 4 comes with excellent features and maintains a reasonable price with the customers. The only negative thing is the lack of ANC features. Otherwise, overall this is one of the best headphones.
