The iPhone 17 series makes its appearance this September with an eye-catching launch event. This series includes the iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. With these four types, Apple aims to reach a broader customer base. Normally, the iPhone series has a Plus version, but this time Apple replaced it with Air.
Design and Display
- iPhone 17 display size is upgraded, and it now has a 6.3-inch display. The camera shape is oval, and it removes the old square style from it while saving the dual cameras. Since the size is large, it is heavier than the iPhone 16.
- iPhone Air thin is 5.6mm. With that, it became the slimmest iPhone ever introduced by Apple. It has a single rare camera and uses a titanium frame. It makes the phone stronger than others. Display size is 6.5 inches.
- iPhone 17 Pro has a design with a triple lens. For more performances, it has better cooling enhancements. It has a 6.3-inch OLED display.
- iPhone 17 Pro Max has the same camera design as the 17 Pro. It also has heat control technologies for better performance with a 6.9-inch display.
People can buy the iPhone 17 in five colors. They are Mist Blue, Black, White, Sage, and Lavender. iPhone 17 Air comes in Space Black, Cloud White, Light Gold, and Sky Blue. iPhone 17 Pro has three color varieties. They are Silver, Cosmic Orange, and Deep Blue. The same applies to iPhone 17 Pro Max. Peak brightness of the screen is 3,000 nits.
Display resolutions changed according to phone type. iPhone 17 has a 2622 x 1206 resolution, while iPhone 17 Air has 2736 x 1260 resolutions. The iPhone 17 Pro has 2622 x 1206 resolution, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max has 2862 x 1320 resolution.
Camera
All iPhone 17 variations have a Dual 48 MP camera and an 18 MP front camera. iPhone 17 Pro has a telephoto up to 8X. iPhone 17 Pro Max has 40X digital zoom. In front of the camera, there is a square sensor. With that, the user can capture portrait and landscape images without rotating. For wider view capturing, there is a Center Stage. With the great stabilisation now, the videos you capture from the front camera are shake-free.
There is a new feature called Dual Capture. It allows users to capture up to 4K Dolby Vision Video at the same time from the front and back cameras. When it comes to Zoom options, there are 0.5, 1x, and 2x options available for users.
Performance
This new iPhone series has the A19 chip, and Pro models have the A19 Pro chip with Apple’s third-generation 3-nanometer node. It has a 5-core GPU and a 6-core CPU. Each one of the GPUs has its own Neural Accelerator. This helps to improve generative AI and other tasks of these phones. As mentioned before, Pro models have better heat control and cooling systems to improve the device’s performance. RAM is 8GB for the iPhone 17 model, and a 16-core Neural Engine with an upgraded engine for display.
For the first time, Apple introduced their in-house WiFi chip, WiFi 7, with the iPhone 17 Pro model. Also, that model has the C1X, second-generation C1 chip of Apple’s, and the Apple N1. With the A19 Pro now, the iPhone 17 Pro can work as a MacBook-level device.
iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max have a vapor chamber. It is a liquid-filled metal chamber that helps to control heat. When it is hot, the liquid converts to a vapor. So now, when the phone gets too hot no need to reduce the performance.
Battery
According to Apple’s details, the iPhone 17 battery capacity is 3,692 mAh, which means 3.7 percent more than the old iPhone 16. The iPhone Air has a battery with a 3,149 mAh capacity. The iPhone 17 Pro comes with a 4,252 mAh battery. It has 18.7 percent more capacity than the old iPhone 16 Pro. The Pro Max model has a 5,088 mAh battery capacity, which means 8.6 percent more than the 16 Pro Max.
The new chipset and new design help these phones to get more battery life than previous versions. When watching videos, the iPhone 17 battery life is up to thirty hours, and for video streaming, it is twenty-seven hours.
The Pro models got the longest battery life ever among all Apple iPhones. For full charge, the battery life for video playback is 39 hours. Also, as per Apple’s news, the eSIM-only version will get a larger battery than other designs because of the extra available space.

Charging speeds are also improved over previous models. With a good power adapter or a fast charger, it will charge up to 50 percent in 20 minutes. With a MagSafe charger, it takes 30 minutes to charge up to 50 percent. These phone models support MagSafe and Qi2 charging.
The Action and Camera control buttons are the same as those on the iPhone 16 models.
Price
The iPhone 17 is the cheapest one among these 4. It is US$799. Also, Euro 799 in the UK and Australian $1399. The next one is the iPhone Air. It is $999 in the US, and in the UK it is Euro 999. If you buy it in Australia, the Price is $1399. It also has a sleeker look than the other three. The next two, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, started from $1099. iPhone 17 Pro is $1099 in the US and €1099 in the UK. iPhone 17 Pro Max is $1199 in the US and €1199 in the UK.
In 2026, Apple is planning to launch their next iPhone lineup. The iPhone 18 Air, Pro, and 18 Pro Max. Also, users can expect the new foldable iPhone during the second half of the year. But the standard iPhone 18 and 18e will take place in 2027.
