iOS 17.5 Beta Enables Direct App Downloads for EU Users

In early April, the new iOS 17.5 beta was released, and it is the second beta version of this iOS version. This new iOS version gives more new features to the users. But the iPhone users in the European Union are the people who get more benefits than others. With this European Union users can download apps directly from their website. With this, you don’t have to go to the App Store and download apps.

New Feature

With iOS 17.4, EU developers can launch their apps through the app marketplace. For the last few months, Apple has been working on this. They try different ways to download apps from websites. Finally, that feature is ready for use.

They use specific criteria to ensure that these apps are safe for iPhone users. If any developer wants to add their apps to their website, they have to be a continuous member of the Apple Developer Program for two years or more. They have to go through this Apple notarization process to prove that their apps are safe enough to add to the website.

If the app has one million annual first installs on iOS, it can be added to download through the official website. If developers meet these rules, they can add their API, and users can download it. When the downloading is done through the website they have all the features like standard apps. They can be backed up, restored, and updated as same.

Downloading Using The Web

There is a process to download an app. First, users have to get permission from the developers when they download an app. Users can see the app name, description, developer’s name, screenshots, and more information in a system sheet. Developers can give permissions through their developer accounts. They have to put transparent data collection policies and share them with the users. This may include how data is collected and stored. Also, they must provide a managing system for the apps, as they are installed outside the app store.

When there are over one million installed, developers have to pay 0.50 euros for each one. It is for non-profit organizations.

For now, installing apps outside the app store is only limited to EU iPhone users. This is not for iPads or other area iPhone users.
