How To Manage Depth Control In iPhone Photos

When we change our photos to show their own depth, this will help us to understand the real structure in 2D photos. Mostly, editors sharpen the focus area and blur other areas to do this. This technique is mostly used on DSLRs and other cameras. Now Apple is also in that subject. With the 7 Plus, they use two or more back-facing cameras and there is a portrait mode built in here. With this, users can add depth to the photos. But in recently developed phones, users can use the front camera to do this too.

Now iPhone 15 can automatically understand people and other objects in the picture and capture them even without your notice. This method is used for both cameras. Here we can tell you how to change the depth of your iPhone.

During the Capture

For this, you have to use an iPhone SE 2nd generation or later one or an iPhone XR and XS. With these iPhones, you can change the depth while you are capturing. First, go to the Camera app. In iPhone 15 you can see an italic f in the lower-left corner, or in other iPhones, you can see a portrait option at the bottom of the camera view. Choose it. In the view, you can see an arrow that is pointed to the upper side. Tap on it. Then tap on the f item. Then, change the depth as you wish.

After the Capture

After taking a photo you can change the depth as you wish. You can change it because they store the information about the depth separately. If you capture your photos from an iPad Pro 12.9-inch, iPad Pro 11-inch, or any other phone that I mentioned above, you can change the depth after the capture. To do that, go to the Photos app. Here choose the photo you want and tap on the edit button. Then select the italic f and you can see a depth slider. Drag it until you want and tap on done when you did the work. This is for iOS or iPadOS versions. If you are using a Mac, you can do it too. For that select the photo you want to edit and click on the edit button. On the right-hand, you can see the Portrait section and you can change the Depth and Light settings here.

Change the Facial Depth

If you use an iPhone 13 or later version to capture your photos you can change the facial point also. In order to do this, you have to have iOS 16 or later version. To do this, choose the photo you want and tap on the edit button. Then select portrait f and tap on the photo to shift the focus. Also, you can change this when you take the photo from the iPhone.

Artificial Depth in Flat Photos

With the iPhone, we can get depth information when we capture the photo. Both rare and front cameras support this. To check if this feature is enabled or not, go to Settings, then Camera and Portraits. Here check the Photo Mode is enabled. They do this by default.

When you capture a photo in portrait mode, they suggest some requirements to apply this feature. The main figure has to be in few feet away, and other objects have to be placed a few feet away from it. When the photo matches this, they show the f mark in the lower-left corner. When you tap on it, you can preview the image.
